The Cherokee Advance 19 May 1881 p 3
Died-Near Cherokee Mills.  We regret to hear of the death of Mr. Geo. Cook, he 
has been a resident of this county for near 40 years, and was highly esteemed 
and respected by all with whom he had dealing or intercourse.  His death 
occurred on may (sic) the 4th 1881.  He was born in Union county, S. C., 1793, 
he leaves quite a number of friends as well as an aged wife and several 
children and other relatives to mourn his departure.         W. N. G.
