Obituary
Mary M. Crisler, wife of B. F. Crisler and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm.A. 
Teasley, was born in Canton, Cherokee County, Ga., Jan. 3rd 1857, and died 
in Canton on the 26th of Dec. 1880. 
She made a profession of religion and joined the M. E. Church South in her 
13th year, and continued a devoted member till her death. 
The evidences of her acceptance with God during most of her christian life 
were not clear and satisfactory ___ she sought by earnest prayer and 
supplication some unmistakable token of the Divine favor.  This blessing she 
realized at home some months before her death.  One day, shortly after her 
husband had knelt in earnest supplication at her beside.  From this time 
forward no cloud obscured her vision; no doubts or anxious care disturbed 
her peace of soul, which flowed like a river. 
She talked much of Heaven and the preciousness of Jesus, often expressing a 
desire to depart and be with Jesus, which she felt would be far better. 
She expressed the belief that she would not be so far removed from earth 
after death, that she would not know what transpires here; but that she 
would sit in the beautiful windows of Heaven and watch over her husband and 
children and loved ones all, as they travel life's weary way among the 
weeping willows of this world's Babel. 
While she yet had strength she wrought in beautiful needlework this motto, 
"The Lord will provide," which she bequeathed to her mother a short time 
before she died, exhorting her never to doubt this divine truth. 
She gave general and specific directions in regard to her earthly interests, 
desiring especially that her two little girls might be brought up in the 
nurture and admonition of the Lord. 
Having fulfilled lifes (sic) duties in the varied relations of daughter and 
friend--of wife and mother--having done and suffered the will of the Master, 
she stretched forth her arms, as if in kindly embrace, saying "Precious 
Savior take me home," and sweetly fell asleep in Jesus, Mary was kinehearted 
(sic) and generous the idol of her husband, and beloved by all who knew her.  
She sleeps in death, but long will her words of cheer and comfort tingle in 
the ears of those who heard them.   C. M. McClure
