P. Dupree, aged 10 months and 13 days, quietly passed away on Thursday morning June 26th 1884, after having suffered only three days, and on Friday evening his remains were interred at the Town Cemetery with beautiful and appropriate ceremonies by Rev. R. R. Johnson. Little Ralph apparently had suffered, but little during life; was bright, cheerful and a source of much pleasure and happiness to his parents who almost idolized him. Having just arrived at the age when he began to make himself partially understood by his childish prattling; walking from chair to chair; recognizing his parents and holding his hands out to be taken by them to their bosom; and a score or more of other sweet little baby tricks that can alone be sweet and lasting in the memory of the stricken parents, he was fondly looked upon with bright anticipation of the future. But, he is gone. We can no more hear his childish laugh and behold his radiant face and we mourn with the bereaved parenta (sic). When we say we deeply sympathise with Mr. and Mrs. Dupree and other sorrowing ones we mean and feel that their loss their grief is ours for we had learned to love little Ralph almost as one our (sic) own children. But we should not mourn for he is only gone before to prepare a place for us. Little Ralph is safe, we are not. "Sad the silence at parting From those we dearly love; Blissful the consolation, Soon we shall meet above, Parting on earth should bring us Nearer, still nearer God, Bowing in sweet submission, Kissing the chastn'ing rod. Silently, silently sleeping, Puseless, and still, and cold; Still, theres' (sic) no cause for weeping, For Lambs of Jesus fold. Tho' these sweet buds of promise, Early are called from time, Sweetly they sing in glory, Safe in that blissful clime."
