The Cherokee Advance 22 May 1885 p 2
Died, in Cherokee county, on the fifth instant, Mrs. Mary C. Evans in the 
sixty-fourth year of her age. 
Mrs. Evans was the mother of Mr. James P. Evans, and mother-in-law to Mr. J. 
R. Barron (?-Barn__?), of this city.  She was well-known in Gainesville, where 
she was greatly loved and respected for her many social and christian virtues. 

Also, on the same day, and in the same neighborhood, Mr. Phillip J. Evans an 
uncle of the above named gentleman, aged about 65 years.  He was greatly 
esteemed and respected by all who enjoyed the pleasure of his acquaintance.  
The relatives of the deceased have the heartfelt sympathy of our entire
