Tribute of Respect
The Committee appointed by Little River Lodge, No. 246, F.A. M., Cherokee 
county, Ga., to draft resolutions in relation to the death of our esteemed and 
worthy brother, Phillip J. Evans, who departed this life on the 5th day of 
May, 1885, in the 68th year of his age, submit the following report:

Whereas, it has pleased the Great Architect of the Universe, in the 
dispensation of an unerring providence, to remove from labor to rest our much 
valued brother, and as the high respect which we entertain for his memory 
demands an expression of feeling on this occasion, be it therefore unanimously
Resolved, That we deeply lament his death as a brother of the Fraternity, and 
feel that in him the poor have lost one of their best friends; the cause of 
humanity, charity and benevolence a warm advocate, and our beloved Institution 
one of its brightest and most exemplary members.
Resolved, That we great sympathize with his bereaved widow, and the large 
circle of his relatives and friends.
Resolved, That in token of our respect for his memory the furniture and jewels 
of the Lodge be clothed in mourning for the next thirty days.
Resolved, That a blank page be ___apart in the Records of the Lodge as sacred 
to his memory.
Resolved, That a copy of these proceedings be sent by the _________the Lodge 
to the family of the deceased, and that the secretary ___them to be published 
in the Cherokee Advance.
This May 9th, 1885.
