MORTUARY.

Canton, Ga., January 6-
Jabez Galt, a pioneer citizen of this city, died this afternoon at 4 o'clock in 
his sixty-fifth year.
Mr. Galt had been indisposed for several days, though his illness was not 
thought to be serious.  The deceased was clerk of the superior court of 
Cherokee county for fifteen years, and the county school superintendent for 
three years.  He was a Baptist, for three years moderator of the Noonday 
Baptist association, for seventeen years superintendent of the local Baptist 
Sunday school.  Mr. Galt is survived by ten children-J. H., G. P., J. L., W. 
H., James, Thomas, Chester, Malinda, Fannie and Mrs. D. G. Howard; a brother, 
William and a sister, Mrs. Henry Roberts.  The funeral will be conducted from 
the Baptist church, Rev. W. L. Cutts officiating, and the interment will be in 
the local cemetery.
