The Cherokee Advance 24 July 1885 p 3
Col. Ben Hill, one of the oldest and first citizens of the county, died at his 
home at Too Ny last week, after an illness of some weeks.  He was one of the 
first settlers of this county and has filled many places of honor and trust 
among its people.  He served as Sheriff for several years and made one of the 
best the county had seen. We mourn his death.
