The Cherokee Advance 22 May 1884 p 3
The wife of Mr. Asbery (sic) Hughes was buried in the town cemetary (sic) last
Monday.  She had only been sick a short while.  Her death falls heavily upon her
husband, and five children who loved her very dearly.  She was an affectionate
wife, kind mother and good neighbor and citizen and loved by all who new (sic)
her.  She had a young babe to preceed her only about one week to the grave.  We
tender our sympathise (sic) to the bereaved.
