Mary A. Hunnicutt was born in Pickens District, S.C., April 12th, 1801, and died 
in Cherokee county, Ga., March 23rd, 1887. In early life she embraced religion 
and joined the Presbyterian church and remained faithful, consistent member 
until her death. By her quiet and obliging disposities she endeared herself to 
all who became acquainted with her. She loved children-especially those children 
whose mother had been taken away. To many a child, whose mother's voice was 
hushed in death, did she sing the quieting lullaby and rock it to its rest. But, 
having served her generation, by the will of God she fell on sleep and was laid 
unto her fathers. In the quiet grave yard at Sixes, she sleeps in hope of the 
resurrection of the just. 
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life is fled,
Then, in Heaven, with joy to greet thee
Where no farewell tear is shed.
