Keith, formerly of this county, died at his home at the Cannon house in Atlanta, on Saturday, April 4th, of paralysis, after a lingering illness of four year's standing. He passed away quietly, surrounded by the members of his affectionate family. Mr. Keith was one of Atlanta's oldest citizens, and had done much to aid her material prosperity. Mr. Keith's entered the war at its beginning and served until the surrender. He was quarter master in the 22d Georgia regiment, and was thought well of by his comrades. He was a native of this county, and was clerk of the Cherokee superior court for a number of years, and made one of the best clerks Cherokee ever had- holding the office from 1852 to 1862. He was for more than a quarter of a century a member of the Methodist church, and was at the time of his death a consistent and exemplary member. He leaves a wife and three daughters, Mrs. Dave Wylie, Mrs. Ira E. Fort, and Mrs. John A. McWhorter, together with one son, Mr. Charlie Keith besides a large circle of friends and acquaintances to mourn his sad death. M. A. and Allen Keith, of this county, are his brothers. We tender our sympathies to the bereaved.
