The Cherokee Advance 14 Aug 1885 p 3 
Mrs. Joseph Knox, aged 72 years, and one of the oldest citizens of Cherokee, 
passed away to a distant home last Saturday, surrounded by many of her 
children, relatives and friends.  She was a most estimable old lady, and many 
there are who mourn her death but they can comfort themselves with the blessed 
thought that "the labors of her mortal life end in a large reward."  May her 
noble husband be spared many years yet to come, and when he too shall come to 
die may he find a sweet home in heaven beside her who has just gone to prepare 
a home for many.
