M. and Lucy McCandless (sic), aged 25 years and 25 days. She suffered seven months with that dread disease, consumption, but murmured not. She was an affectionate daughter and a kind sister, and was beloved by all who know her. She was asked just before she died if she was happy, and replied "Yes." Then she asked her weeping father, her two brothers and her sister to kiss her--then she passed away. Sallie, thou art gone! We no longer behold thee, or tread life's rough paths by thy side, but the wide arms of mercy are open to enfold thee. Death has no sting for our savior hath died. J. G.
