Tributes Of Respect
Canton, Ga., Aug. 24, 1886.
The angel of death has again visited our school, and Brother John McCanless 
has been called to his reward, and the low, sad wail of broken hearts is heard 
in that family who are so well acquainted with grief.
In his death this community has lost a noble young man, and this school a 
bright light, whose example the young men of our town should strive to 
emulate.
We offer to the bereaved family our condolence in the hour of their great 
sorrow, and can only point them to him who "doeth all things well." 
We recommend that these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this school 
that a copy be furnished the family of the deceased, and also to The Cherokee 
Advance, with request to publish the same.
