L. McDonald Brother W. L. McDonald was born February 9th, 1833, and departed this life of pneumonia fever, April 10th, 1881. He was a consistent member of the M. E. Church for 35 years, and much loved by all who knew him. He acted as Justice of the Peace for many years; he was also a class leader for a number of years. He He (sic) was kind and generous in all his business dealings; nor was he a man of many words, but when he spoke he made his speech to the point. The whole community are much grieved at his loss, as he was a guide for his neighbors and friends to go by. And they now mourn his departure with deep regret, but not as those who have no hope. Bro. McDonald knew he had to die two days before he lost his speech, and calling his wife to his bed side, he begged her to raise his cildren (sic) in the fear of the Lord, and to trust in Him and He would take care of her, and not to grieve for him. She told him she would try to give him up if it was God's will. "Well, well," said he "I now have nothing to do but wait until He comes." The summons soon came, and he died praising God. The deceased leaves a wife and seven children. May the God of peace be a father to the orphan children and a husband to his widow. His brother, D. L.
