Moore. Mr. Moore was one of our oldest and most influential citizens. He was born and raised in Hall county, Ga., and moved to Canton, Cherokee county, Ga., in the year 1836, where he was married to Miss Francis J. Garrison, daughter of Capt. N. J. Garrison, in the year 1842, with whom he lived happily up to the date of his death, and by whom he raised a large family. John K. Moore was beloved by all who knew him. He was remarkably kind and genial in his disposition. His benefactions were numerous and liberal, and he never turned a deaf ear to the poor. He had genuine sympathy for the suffering, and always sought, in his own peculiar way, to minister to their relief. He was a tender, loving husband and a kind and affectionate father. He was a man of strong religious convictions, but his piety, like his life, was quiet, gentle and full of faith and good works. He united with the Baptist church in the year 1848, and was ordained deacon the same year. He continued until his death a consistent and useful member of the church of choice; and then, surrounded by his sorrowing family and friends, peacefully entered into the rest that remaineth for the people of God.
