The Cherokee Advance   18 Sept 1885 p 3
Mr. John Petree, dropped dead very suddenly, at his home near Woodstock, last 
Tuesday morning while drawing water for his horses.  He was about 76 years 
old, a stout, hale and hearty old man, apparently enjoying the best of health.  
His wife died last week and her funeral was preached last Friday at Little 
River.  Mr. Petree was buried Thursday, yesterday, at Little River.
