The Cherokee Advance 3 Apr 1885 p 3 
Last Friday a sad and fatal accident befell the little bright-eyed seven-year 
old boy of wm. (sic) Pitnam's (sic) at his home in Harbin's district of this 
county.  The little fellow started to climb over a rail fence, when he fell off 
and a large heavy pine pole, which was lying on top of two or three panels of 
the fence, fell across his breast hurting him so badly that he died within an 
hour afterward.
