The Cherokee Advance 16 Feb 1917 p 1 
Prominent Citizen of This County Dead
Mr. J. F. Pruitt age 42 years, dide (sic) at his home in Little River 
District Saturday, February 10, and his remains were laid to rest in Big 
Springs cemetery Monday, February 12.
Mr. Pruitt had been a life-long citizen of Cherokee county and was well 
known and liked by a large number of people.  In his death the county loses 
one of her highly esteemed citizens.  Rev. R. I. Johnson conducted the 
funeral services in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives.
He leaves a wife and seven children to mourn their loss.
The Advance extends its tenderest sympathy to the bereaved in their hour of 
sorrow.
