Obituary

Mary Jane Ramsey, wife of S. D. Ramsey, was born in Forsyth Co., Ga., Sept. 7th,
1838, and died in Cherokee county, Ga., Jan. 18th, 1883.

She embraced religion and joined the M. E. church, south, at Holbrook
Campground, in her 15th year.  From that glad hour until the time of her
departure, her confidence in God was unshaken--her peace flowed as a river.  
She was married Sept. 19th, 1859.  She was a devoted wife and mother--working
willingly with her hands, and looking well to the ways of her household. Her
husband praiseth her, and nine children rise up and call her blessed.  She
stretched forth her hands to the poor and needy, and many whom the storms of
misfortune had unsheltered, rejoiced in her kindly benefactions. 

She delighted in the worship of the sanctuary, and was always ready and glad to
go, when it was said let us go into the house of the Lord. 

Her death was sudden and unexpected, consequently she left no dying testimony;
but her devoted life and sweet christian spirit under the trials and affections
of life give entire satisfaction as to the genuineness of her religion.  

With her the pain of life is past, and she sweetly sleeps awaiting the trump
that shall arouse the dead.  Man her husband and children each, emulate her
example and follow on until they meet her in the better land.
