FRANCIS EVALINE ELLISON 
 
This is the tombstone of Francis Evaline "Eva" McCollum Ellison (1842-1897) 
in the cemetery of the New Bethel Baptist Church on North Victoria Road in 
Cherokee County, Georgia. 
Eva was the daughter of John and Hannah McCollum and the mother of an 
illegitimate son, William E. McCollum (1867-1921). 

After her parents' deaths in 1883/1884 she married Henry Jordan Ellison, 
with whom William lived as a stepson until his marriage to Mary Selena "Molly" 
Chastain in 1888. 

The epitaph reads, "Francis E. Ellison, mother of W.E. McCollum." 

The tombstone was probably chosen by her son, who became a Baptist minister 
and pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church.
