Last Sunday, Dec. 9th, was rendered memorable by one of those happy events lately so frequent in Canton; Miss Lottie Therisa Whitmore and Major Frederick S. Wallace being the high contracting parties. The marriage took place at 12 o'clock in the Methodist Episcopal church. The church was beautifully decorated in favor of the occasion, and long before the hour arrived the house was literally filled to overflowing with friends and admirars (sic) of the happy couple, each impatient to see them bid farewell to single blessedness. As the bridal party reached the church the wedding march pealed forth. The groom accompanied by his attendants entered the right aile (sic), while the blushing bride, supported by her father proceeded slowly up the left, until they met before the altar where their mutual vows were pledged--"Two minds with but a single thought--two hearts that beat as one" The beautiful and impressive marriage service of the Episcopal church was selected for the occasion, Rev. Mr. McConnell officiating. After the ceremony was finished and the congratulations ended the party repaired to the residence of the parents, where a sumptuous feast was spread, whose savory odors reminded us that dinner had its charms as well as marrying and giving in marriage. While Canton is justly envied by all the wide, wide world for its winsome ladies and its handsome gallants, it is safe to say that no social event within the history of the city has created so great a sensation as this last, both on account of the prominence of the parties and their general popularity. The bride is the daughter of Capt. W. B. Whitmore, our distinguished fellow townsman, and is one of our most charming and accomplished young ladies. The groom is well and favorably known throughout North Ga., and is prominent in the R. R. circles of the State. He is at present chief engineer of the M. & N. Ga. R. R. and Gen. Manager for the North Ga. Improvement Co., a wealthy corporation of Northern capitalists who have large investments in this section. A special train from Marietta brought up relatives and a number of distinguished guests, among whom were noticed Mr. Abram Kinsey of Cincinnati, J. B. Glover and Hon. T. W. Glover of Cobb, Miss Pettie of Atlanta, and charming Miss Winters of Marietta. Sunday afternoon the bridal party left in a special car for Atlanta, whence they will start upon an extended wedding tour. "May all hat's good watch o'er them."
