J. Rowe WALTER G. CORNETT Son of Bartlett Pinckney and Josephine Winter Cornett. Born in Atlanta, Ga., September 24, 1887. Received his common school education at private schools in Atlanta and graduated in the law class of 1911 at the University of Georgia. Mr. Cornett came to Athens in. February, 1909, as a Deputy Clerk of the U. S. District Court. On July 1, of that year he was appointed U. S. Commissioner by Judge Wm. T. Newman for the Northern District of Georgia, at Athens. He was the youngest man ever appointed to this position. In 1918 he was appointed an instructor in the Law School at the University and in 1921 he was promoted to full professorship in the Law School. On December 2, 1907, he married Miss Ola Goza Ford, of Norcross, Georgia, and they have four children. He is affiliated with all the Masonic bodies in Athens.
