J. Rowe HENRY T. CULP Son of Alonzo Gulp and Mrs. Rebecka (Dean) Culp; grandson of "Uncle" Peter Culp, a prominent figure in his day, who served as bookkeeper for the Athens Manufacturing Company, and was a special writer for the Athens Banner many years. Henry T. Culp was elected in 1917 as a member of City Council from the First ward, and has been re-elected alderman from that ward successively since. He has served as mayor pro tem one term, and as a member of important committees during each administration since his first election, and has many important public improvement movements to his credit. Through his efforts Oak Street was paved, and pavements in Barberville laid, and he had a prominent part in the movement to build the River and Oconee Street bridges, the former of which has recently been completed.
