J. Rowe DORSEY DAVIS Born June 14, 1881, near Cornelia, Baldwin County, Georgia, the son of J. Bruce Davis and Serepta (Wells) Davis. Early education was obtained in country schools and Lavonia Public Schools. After having taught in the county schools for several years, Mr. Davis entered the law department at Mercer University, Macon, Ga., and graduated with the class of 1909. He began the practice of law at Lavonia. During the World War he served with the Young Men's Christian Association at Ippecourt, Verdun, in the Argonne, at Barleduc, Givery in Argonne, and later at Paris, which city he left in June, 1919, returning to Lavonia and taking up his practice again. He came to Athens January 1, 1920, and opened offices in this city and has taken rank as one of the leaders of the Athens bar. February 16, 1911, he was married to Miss Ruby Lester, of Athens, Ga., and has three children: Dorsey, Jr., age 11; Marian, age 8; and Ronald, age 5.
