J. Rowe R. T. DOTTERY Alderman R. T. Dottery, on the council from the First ward of the city of Athens, was born December 7, 1876, at Athens, Georgia. Son of E. L. Dottery and grandson of Peter Culp, a remarkable figure in his day. Mr. Dottery (familiarly known as "Fess") went on the road as a professional musician in 1898, and held positions for nine years with such bands as the Gentry Bros. Dog and Pony Show, Al G. Fields' Minstrels, and others. He was married at Columbus, Georgia, in 1907, to Miss Maude Gannon, and lived in that city from that date to 1912, when he came to Athens, where he has had charge of the University R. 0. T. C. Band since that time. In addition, he is director of the High School Band, the Southern Manufacturing Company Band, and is to be director of the Athens Elks Band soon to be formed. Mr. Dottery has been alderman from the First ward, city of Athens, three terms, being re-elected to this office without opposition.
