DR. H. B. HEYWOOD

   Dr. H. B. Heywood is a member of the Athens City Council from the Second
ward, having assumed office in January, 1923. He is a "believer" in Athens and
her future, and has large investments in real estate in the city.

   Born October 18, 1878, in Washington, Tennessee, his parents having refugeed
there from Chattanooga, where yellow fever was prevalent at that time. He was
reared in Chattanooga, attending the public, schools and Professor Wilford
Caulkins' Prep. School for Boys, graduating from the Chattanooga High School in
1895.

   He attended the dental department of the Central University of Kentucky (now
Centre University) graduating in June, 1898. After practicing dentistry for
twelve years in Chattanooga, he moved to Athens in 1910, and has a large
clientile in this city where he is still in the practice.

  He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church; of Psi Omega fraternity, Elks
Lodge, Chamber of Commerce, and alderman from the Second ward.
