Rowe SYLVANUS MORRIS Graduated from the University of Georgia with the degree of Master of Arts in 1874; taught a school for boys in Athens for two years being associated for the first year with Prof. W. W. Lumpkin; graduated from the Law Department of the University of Georgia in 1877; was partner, in the practice, with Emory Speer for two years; was appointed Solicitor of the City Court first by Governor Alfred H. Colquitt in 1881, and at the expiration of his term was re-appointed by Governor Alexander H. Stephens; was made Special Attorney for the Richmond and Danville (now Southern Railroad) in 1888; married Annie Laurie Lewis, of the Scotch and Virginia families of those names in 1890; was elected Dean of the Law Department of the University of Georgia in 1900; the degree of Doctor of Laws was conferred by the University in 1913. He is a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, the Phi Beta Kappa Society, has held offices of vestryman and of warden of Emmanuel Church, is a member of the Georgia State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
