J. Rowe J. WARREN SMITH J. Warren Smith, banker and business man, was born in Villa Rica, Georgia; son of Henry Martin Smith and Celia Smith. His father was a Confederate Veteran. His great-grandfather was John McMuklan, who came from Dublin, Ireland, and settled in Virginia in 1760. He located in Athens in February, 1914, and entered the banking business, as vice-president of the American State Bank, one of the leading institutions of the city. He met with marked success in the conduct of the affairs of that bank and after two years of service he was elected vice-president of the Georgia National Bank, one of the strongest institutions in the country. He is a leader in civic, banking, agricultural and manufacturing interests and in all of his undertakings he has been eminently, successful. His connection with various industries calls for a busy life, but he is never too busy to lend a helping hand to all movements for the good of the community. He is vice-president and director of Guaranty Trust Corporation. Treasurer and director of Crawford Cotton Mills. Trustee, Athens General Hospital. Member Cloverhurst County .Club. Member City Club of Atlanta. Member of Rotary Club. Treasurer, Northeast Georgia Council Boy Scouts. He married Miss Clara Alda Reynolds, of Virginia, September 20, 1911. Children: J.
