J. Rowe JAMES WHITE, JR. Mr. White is among the most prominent manufacturers, financiers, and citizens of this section, of the South. Born July 28, 1900, in the city of Athens, the son of the late Captain James White and Julia (Ashton) White, he attended the High School in Athens, and in 1916 entered Culver Military Academy, Culver, Indiana, graduating from this institution in 1918. He returned to Athens and entered the University of Georgia in the fall semester, and after two weeks, voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army and entered the Central Officers Training Camp at Camp Gordon, Atlanta, and was in training for a commission when the armistice was signed in November, 1918. After honorable discharge, he returned to the University of Georgia, graduating with the class of 1921, with the A. B. degree. He then took a special course in Cotton Manufacturing at the Philadelphia Textile School at Philadelphia, Pa. Mr. White's principal business interests are the Princeton Manufacturing Company, and the Star Thread Mills, located near Athens, of which he is owner and general manager. Other industrial, and financial enterprises with which he is connected are the Georgia Manufacturing Company and the Commercial Bank, both of which he serves as director. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Cloverhurst Country Club, and American Legion. He is a member of the Georgia Manufacturers' Association and the American Cotton Manufacturers' Association. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Athens. Mr. White was married on September 2, 1920, to Miss Agnes Hood, of Commerce, Georgia. They have one daughter, Agnes Rosena White, born June 28, 1921. Residence address, 596 Prince Avenue.
