JOHN JULIAN WILKINS

   John Julian Wilkins was born in Darlington, S. C., September 7, 1866, son of
W. B. Wilkins and Lucile Bryan Wilkins.

   Came to Athens in 1889 and in 1900 was elected President of the Bank of the
University. In 1902 he organized and became President of The Georgia National.
Bank and The University Savings Bank, which later became The -American State
Bank. In 1922 President of the Broad Street Office of The American State Bank.
He is President of the Guaranty Trust Corporation and a Director in the
following institutions:

   Georgia National Bank. 
   American State Bank. 
   Broad Street Office, American State Bank.
   Guaranty Trust Corporation.
   Pittard Banking Co., Winterville, Ga.
   Bank of Crawford, Crawford Ga.
   Athens Railway & Electric Company.
   Trustee and Director Athens Young Men's Christian Association.
   Oglethorpe Seed & Stock Farm.
   Buffalo Lumber Company.
   Athens Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
   Crawford Cotton Mills, Crawford, Ga.

   He is Vice-President of National Bank Section from Georgia, American Bankers
Association, a member Permanent Group Committee for Gautemala of The United
States Section, Inter-American High Commission, City Chairman National Budget
Committee, member The Rotary Club, Cloverhurst Country Club, President of West
Lake Club and member Mt. Vernon No. 22, F. & A. M. and B. P. O. E. He is a
member of the First Baptist 'Church of Athens.

   In 1892 he married Jessie Stanley Horton, who with their children, Josephine,
Van Cleave and John Julian, Jr., reside in their attractive home on Milledge
Avenue.
