 Clarke County Deed Book D, p. 136

     This Indenture made 18th day of December in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight Hundred and Seven and in the 32nd year of the Independence 
of the United States of America Between Solomon Burford his Heirs and 
assigns of the State of Tenecy White County on the one part and David 
Elder         
of Clark County of the other part and the State aforesaid and his heirs and
 assigns of the other part  Witnesseth that the said Solomon Burford his heirs
and assigns for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to
him in hand paid well & truly by the said David Elder his heirs and assigns at 
or before the sealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged by him. Hath Granted bargained sol released and
confirmed and by these presents doth Grant Bargain Sell release and confirm 
unto the said David Elder his heirs and assigns all that part or Tract of Land 
lying and being in the said County of Clark formerly Jackson County Beginning
on an Iron Wood on the East side of Rose Creek running thence S. 70 E. 31
chains to a Stake on Green County old line – Thence S. 28 W to a corner
pine Thence N 28 E 66 ½ chain to a corner Gum on Rose Creek on the west
bank of the same – Thence down the sd creek to the Beginning containing by 
Estimation of survey 440 Acres be the same more or less and appertenances
thereof whatsoever to the said Tract of Land being belonging or in anywise
appertaining and the reversions, remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof 
and every part thereof.  To Have and to hold the said Tract of Land & all & 
singular the premises and Appertenances thereof belonging as aforesaid & every
part thereof unto the said David Elder his heirs and assigns to the only
proper use benefit & behoof of the said David Elder his heirs and assigns
forever and the said Solomon Burford his heirs and assigns the said Tract
of Land & premises aforesaid and every part thereof unto the sd. David 
Elder and his heirs from the claim or demand of any person or persons
whosoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.  
In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hand and affixed our seal 
the day and date first above written –

Personally came Joshua Elder Wm. Fambrough and made oath that they
saw the within assigned & Delivered for the purpose of the within sworn
to this 21st March 1808
