Georgia             }  This Indenture made this fourth day
Clark  County }  of October in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred 
and twenty two between Moses Waddel President of the University of Georgia on 
the part of the Trustees of the Said University or their successors in office 
of the one part and William Maddox of the County and State aforesaid of the 
other part. Witnesseth that the said Moses Waddel for and in consideration of 
the sum of Seven Hundred and Ten Dollars well and truly paid into the Treasury 
of the said University at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents 
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath for and on the part of the said 
Trustees granted bargained and sold and doth by these presents grant bargain & 
sell unto the said William Maddox his heirs and assigns forever all those Lots 
or parcels of Land Situate lying and being in the five thousand acre Tract in 
said County and State, on the waters of Sandy Creek belonging to said Trustees, 
Containing two hundred acres be the same more or less which said Lots or 
parcels of Land is Known and distinguished according to a late resurvey in the 
five Thousand acre Tract aforesaid by numbers Sixteen and twenty seven 
     To have and to hold said Lots or parcels of Land and all and singular the 
premises hereby bargained and sold, with their and every of their rights 
members and appurtenances unto the said William Maddox his heirs and assigns in 
fee simple
     And the said Moses Waddel president as aforesaid for and on the part of 
the said University as aforesaid or their Successors in Office and not in his 
Individual capacity shall and will warrant and forever Defend the premises 
aforesaid unto the said William Maddox his heirs and assigns against all and 
every person and persons --  
   In Witness whereof the said Moses Waddel hath hereunto set his official hand 
and affixed the seal of the University the day and year above written
