Deed of Gift from Joshua Hightower

Clarke County, Georgia Deed Book I page 183. Dated Feb 2, 1819

Know ye that I Joshua Hightower of the County and state aforesaid for and in
consideration of the love and goodwill I have and do bear towards my beloved son
Thomas Hightower have given and granted and by these presents do freely give and
grant unto my said beloved son Thomas Hightower nine Negroes.

Jinney about 50 years of age
Frank about 22 years of age
Stephen about 13 years of age
Charity about 15 years of age
Edmund about 14 years of age
Tempey about 10 years of age
Rhodey about 11 years of age
Sam about 5 years of age
Clary about 3 years of age

Reserving to myself and my wife Polly Hightower the use and enjoyment of the
above named negroes during my life and the lifetie of my wife Polly Hightower,
all which negroes with the increase of said negroes I do warrant and forever
defend the right and title unto the said Thomas Hightower his heirs and assigns
free from the claim of me my heirs and assigns and every person or persons shall
and will warrant and forever defend:

In witness whereo I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2nd day of February
