	This Indenture made the Eighteenth day of September in the year of our 
Lord one thousand eight hundred and Eighteen and in the forty year of the 
Independence of the United states of America between Edward H. Maxey of the 
County of Clarke of the one part and Joshua Elder Jur. of the County of Clarke 
of the other part:  Witnesseth, that the said Edward H Maxey for and in 
consideration of the sum of one hundred & sixty nine dollars in hand paid at 
and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is 
hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and by 
these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm, unto the 
said Joshua elder Jur. his heirs and assigns, all that tract or parcel of land 
lying and being in the County aforesaid on the waters of Rose Creek containing 
seventy five and one half acres be the same more or less Beginning at a 
Chechinquapin [Chinkapin] corner thence S 62 
E 30.75 to an ash corner thence N 28 E 36.50 to a Red Oak corner thence N 62 
W. 16.50 to an Iron wood corner on little Rose Creek, thence up the meanders 
of said Creek to the Beginning Chechinquapin Corner    To have and to hold the 
said Tract or parcel of land with all and singular the rights members and 
appurtenances thereof whatsoever to the said Joshua elder Jr. being belonging, 
or in anywise appertaining with the remainder and remainders, reversion and 
reversions, rents, issues and profits thereof to the only proper use and 
benefit and behoof of him the said Joshua Elder Jr. his heirs, executors, 
administrators and assigns in fee simple; and the said Edward H Maxed his 
heirs executors and administrators, the said bargained land unto the said 
Joshua Elder Jr. his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, against the 
said Edward H. Maxey his heirs executors and administrators, and all and every 
other person or persons shall and will warrant and forever defend by virtue of 
these presents.  In Witness whereof the said Edward H. Maxey have hereunto set 
his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.
