TOWNS and ROBERT TOWNS to JOHN WINTER, January 1, 1879 SURNAMES: Towns, Winter, Pittard, Tuck, Watson State of Georgia Clarke County This Indenture made this first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Seventy nine between James H. Towns and Robert Towns of the County of Clarke and State of Georgia of the one part and John Winter of the County of Oglethorpe of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said James H. Towns and Robert C. Towns for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and three dollars and sixty three cents to them in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these present, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed, and do by these present grant bargain sell and convey with the said John Winter his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land which lying and being in the County of Clarke and State of Georgia, containing ninety four acres be the same more or less & having the following meter & bounds, beginning at a road about fifty feet from where the Athens & Beaverdam wagon road crosses the Rail Road, thence along said road to Watson's line, first part of his being S81°, W3 chs. thence part of line S75½° W 11 chs. to N6 Watsons line, thence S.81, W. 35 chs. to a pine, thence S47½° E15 chs. to a pine, thence N 31½ E36 chs. to a rock, thence N 46½ W10 chs. thence 32½ E. 6 chs. to a rock, thence to the beginning corner. To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land with him the said John Winter his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereof to the same in any manner belonging to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in Fee Simple, and the said James H. Towns, and Robert C. Towns, for themselves their heirs executors and administrators the said bargained premises unto the said John Winter his heirs and assigns will warrant & forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves and against the claims of all other persons whatever.
