Widow's pension application filed by Glovina after the death of Charnell.

The following information was given by Glovina on her applications between
November 1, 1879 and June 12, 1882.

Glovina did not marry Charnell until 1856, so she did not know of his service
first hand.

"Charnell Hightowers was a private in the Company commanded by Captain William
Starns in the Georgia Militia regiment commanded by Colonel Jenkins.

Charnell enlisted in Clarke County, Georgia around May 12, 1812 for twelve months
service. He was discharged at Milledgeville, Georgia in May 1813.

Charnell's description at his enlistment was; about 21 years old (actually
Charnell probably was only 16 years old); a farmer born in Clarke County, about
five feet five to eleven inches tall; eyes gray; hair sandy, complection fair.

The application was signed by Glovina Hightower,  Joshua Hightower (aged 79 yr,
residing at Morgan's Mill, Erath County, TX) and R.G. Peters (aged 63 yer,
residing at Granbury, Hood County, TX)

Also a letter from a William Hightower from Randolph county, Alabama accompanied
the file.  William was Charnell's brother according to the file.  Williams who was
living off a pension at the tie, said that Charnell served under Captain Starns
and Colonerl Jenkins from August 12, 1812 until March 1, 1813 at Milledgeville,
Georgia where he was discharged from General Charles Floyd's Army.



Additional Comments:
Note: It seems that Glovina never did receive a pension. According to the file no
record of Charnell's service was ever found, and the application was rejected.
