He was a retired employee of Oxford Manufacturing Co. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hill Haven Memory Gardens with the Rev. Danny Long officiating. Funeral Directors, Monroe, is in charge of arrangements. Allen T. Pittman Athens Allen Talmadge Pittman, 81, of 115 October Woods died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996. A native of Madison County, Mr. Pittman was a son of the late William O. and Eva Barber Pittman and was the widower of Rosalee Pittman. He was a retired railroad pipe fitter. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethaven Cemetery with the Rev. Luther Fouche officiating. Survivors include a son, Michael Pittman, Seneca, S.C.; a daughter, Evelyn Whitehurst, Miami; a brother, Edward Pittman, Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Florence Johnston, Magie Lee Slaughter and Mattie Lou Farmer, all of Athens; and two grandchildren. Randall Boles Winder Randall Boles, 68, of 14 Wade St. died Thursday, Oct. 31, 1996. A native of Barrow County, Mr. Boles was a son of the late John W. and Lula Mae Boles. He was a painter. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at the chapel of Wise-Connolly Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Kenneth Deaton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Grace Casper Boles, Winder; a son, Billy Boles, Winder; a daughter, Betty Boles, Winder; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family is at the residence. Willie L. Appling Carlton Willie Lee Appling, Route 2, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 1996. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Appling was a son of Ruby Collins Appling and the late Booker T. Appling. He was a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Revs. Michael Gresham and S.A. Bishop officiating. She attended Clarke Central High School and Athens Area Technical Institute where she received a nursing degree. Formerly of Athens, Miss Cherry was a daughter of the Rev. H.L. Cherry and the late Laura Lee Alexander Cherry. She was a graduate of Athens High and Industrial School. Mullis Winterville Hilda Porterfield Mullis, 74, of 210 N. Church St. died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Mullis was a daughter of the late Truman and Clara Moon Porterfield. She was the widow of Joseph Mullis. She was a beautician in Athens, a member of the Altrusa Club, VFW Women's Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and Business Girl's Club. She was also a member of Statham Providence United Methodist Church, the senior group of Tuckston United Methodist Church and a former member of Winterville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence United Methodist Church, Statham, with the Rev. Joan Bile officiating. Dial Macon Claudie House Dial, 93, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996. A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Dial was a daughter of the late James M. and Lutica Edgar House. She was a widow and a retired seamstress from H&H Manufacturing. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a son, Allen Dial, Macon; a brother, Robert House, Winder; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Jose Gomez Ocala, Fla. Jose Gomez, formerly of Big Canoe, Ga., and Hendersonville, N.C., died Friday, Oct. 25, 1996. A native of Mata, Cuba, Mr. Gomez was a son of the late Alejo Gomez and Concepcion Gomez. He was the widower of Anne M. Gomez. He was a graduate of Mount Hermon School and a magna cum laude graduate of Yale University. He was a retired comptroller with Cuba Electric Co. A memorial service was held Thursday in Ocala, Fla., with the Rev. Ralph O. Marsh officiating. A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Big Canoe Chapel, Big Canoe. He is survived by his grateful and loving family to whom he so unreservedly gave his love and support over the years including his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jo Gomez, Athens; his grandchildren, Elisa M. Gomez, Maco, Sarah Guerin and Matthew Gomez, both of Athens, and Alexander Gomez, Norcross; and two sisters, Paula Rodriguez and Zoila Martin, both of Miami.
