Mashburn Toccoa Robert L. Mashburn, 79, of 8121 Wards Creek Road died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1996. A native of Macon County, N.C., Mr. Mashburn had lived in Toccoa since 1972. He was a son of the late Elbert A. and Minnie Henry Mashburn and the widower of Joan Echwald Mashburn. He worked for WABCO Co. in Toccoa and was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Toccoa Masonic Lodge 309 and a Baptist. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Elrod officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Survivors include four daughters, Robin Singleton, Toccoa, and Edwina Gunn, Carol Fernandes and Linda Mashburn, all of Titusville, Fla.; four sons, Daniel Mashburn, Habersham, Douglas Mashburn and Joseph Mashburn, both of Clarkesville, and Thomas Mashburn, Toccoa; a sister, Grace Rogers, Toccoa; a half brother, Wallace Tallent, Franklin, N.C.; 20 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Singleton, Wards Creek Road. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Eugene W. Griner Athens Eugene W. Griner, 74, of 190 Skyline Way died Monday, Sept. 30, 1996. A native of Abbeville, Ala., Mr. Griner was a son of the late James B. and Agnes Dunnington Griner and spent most of his life in the Athens area. He was the former director of the Department of Labor for the Southeast after appointment by President Gerald Ford. He was also retired as a divisional vice president for Kroger and worked for the Small Business Development Center at the University of Georgia. Mr. Griner was a graduate of of the UGA School of Business with bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma and was a winner of the Distinguished Service Award and Distinguished Alumni Award from UGA. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and Korean War. He was a member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen's Anglican Church with the Rev. Mark Haverland officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor W. Ossie Payne Culpepper Macon Ossie Payne Culpepper, 95, of Macon, formerly of Toccoa, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1996. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Culpepper was a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Lou Ella Duncan Payne. A graduate of Piedmont College, she was a retired teacher and a member of First Baptist Church of Toccoa. Clyde 'Syb' Shinnick Nicholson Clyde T. "Syb" Shinnick, 82, of Sanford community died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1996. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Shinnick was a daughter of the late William Isac and Ludie Lucinda Barber Barnett and the widower of William Shinnick. Yearwood Union Point Rebecca "Becky" Wilkes Yearwood, 44, of 5831 Union Point Highway died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1996. A lifelong resident of Greene County, Mrs. Yearwood was a daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson and Ruth Dingler Wilkes. She was a customer service manager for Chipman-Union Manufacturing and previously worked as office manager for RPM Manufacturing in Greensboro. She was a Baptist.
