Whitfield Lavonia Melba Jean Whitfield, 70, of Linton Avenue died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996. A native of Hart County, she was a daughter of the late Denver and Daisy King Mitchell and the widow of Swain Whitfield. She was a retired cashier at Big Apple Grocery Stores and was of the Baptist faith. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Hicks was a daughter of the late Jessie and Vassie Alewine Rowland. She was a homemaker and was of the Church of God faith. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Hamby was a son of the late Lee and Dora Starrett Hamby. He was a retired businessman and a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, held positions on various committees, was a member of the men's Sunday school class and was serving on the Church Cemetery Committee.
