A native of Clarke County, Mr. Sailors was a son of Sybil Sailors of Athens and the late Wilburn T. Sailors. He worked at Athens Hardware for 23 years before becoming Vice President of J.B. Alexander, Inc. for 11 years. He was general manager of Farmers Hardware, Inc. for the past 10 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Sailors was instrumental in the construction of Satterfield Park, and was an organizer of the International Little League. He coached for 18 years in the Athens Little League System. He was instrumental in building the Cedar Shoals High School Track, and later served as an official with the University of Georgia Track Club. He was an official for 30 years with the Northeast Georgia Athletic Association. Mr. Sailors served on the Board of Directors of Athens Regional Medical Center for eight years, and as its chairman for one year. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lord & Stephens Chapel East with the Rev. Pete Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Patsy Sailors; three children and their spouses, Dr. David Mathis and Katy Sailors, Chattanooga, Tenn., Rhonda and Kent Kilpatrick, Athens, and Vicky and Capt. Keith Treadway, Camp LeJeune, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Peggy Sailors, Watkinsville; and 10 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. Frances Morton Athens Frances Morton, 85, of 560 Woodland Hills Drive, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 1996. A native of Jones County, Miss Morton was a daughter of the late Melvin Frank and Pauline Anchors Morton. She was a longtime resident of Haddock where taught school for 42 years. She was a member of the D.A.R. and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was a past member of the G.E.A. and the J.E.A. She was a member of Haddock Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Peggy Lowe officiating. Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Henry J. and Gwen M. Morton, Athens; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haddock Methodist Church, Haddock, Ga., 31033. The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bridges Funeral Home. Irene H. Smith Athens Irene Harper Smith, 81, of 275 Gilliland Drive, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 1996. A native of Lexington, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late John and Maude Nunnally Harper and widow of Allen Smith. She was a retired beautician and a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. She was a longtime resident of Athens and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Doug Nix officiating. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7-8 tonight at Bernstein Funeral Home. Ellen R. Jordan Davis, Calif. Ellen R. Jordan, 53, died Friday, Aug. 9, 1996. Professor Jordan served as associate dean from 1983 to 1986 at the University of Georgia School Law and served as acting associate vice president for academic affairs from 1986-1988. She assumed the appointment as dean of the University of California, Davis, School of Law, in January of 1992. She was a board member of the Georgia Conservancy. She was a 1972 graduate of the Columbia Law School and had earned a bachelor's degree in history from Cornell University in 1964. Memorial services will be at a later date. Survivors include her husband, Carl Jordan; two sons, Timothy Jordan, Scotland, and Daniel Jordan, 23, at the Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Phyllis Onstad, Santa Rosa, Calif.; and her father, Joseph Rausen, Rohnert Park, Calif. Lillie Mae Ellison Maysville Lillie Mae Ellison, 86, of Main Street, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 1996. Mrs. Ellison was a native of Jackson County. She was a member of Maysville United Methodist Church. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. today at Solid Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Swayne Carlan officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements. Ruby Lee Jordan Monroe Ruby Lee Jordan, 79, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 1996. A native of Dooley County, Mrs. Jordan was a daughter of the late Marion Odom Sr. and Josie Mincey Odom. A retired employee of Monroe-Walton Mill, she was the widow of Dillard Jordan. She was a member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sam Parkes will officiate. Burial will be in Hill Haven Memory Gardens. Survivors include two daughters, Trilby Harris, Athens, and Frieda Jordan, Atlanta; three sons, Stanley Jordan, Athens, Kenneth Jordan, Lawrenceville, and Mitchell Jordan, Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Marion H. Odom Jr., Bishop; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Arthur Bowick's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Bennie C. Chandler Commerce Bennie C. Chandler, 74, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 1996. A native of Hart County, Mr. Chandler was a son of the late Stoy H. and Margie Culbertson Chandler. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Commerce First Baptist Church. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. today at Grey Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Troy Herbert officiating. Survivors include his wife, Marguerita Cole Chandler; a daughter, Clara Louisa Chandler, Orlando, Fla.; a son, Bennie Theron Chandler, Lawrenceville; a brother, Stoy H. Chandler, Commerce; two sisters, Mayo Ray of Virginia, and Polly Gordon, Chamblee; and two grandchildren. Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Richard E. Bunn Sr. Winder Richard E. Bunn, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 1996. A native of Clay County, Ala., Mr. Bunn was a son of the late John and Anna Atkinson Bunn. He was the widower of Lillian Ford Bunn. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard E. Bunn Jr. He was a retired auto mechanic. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. today at Carter-Stewart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Ray officiating. Rufus G. Sartain Asheville, N.C. Rufus Guy Sartain, 74, of 91 Ormond Ave., died Sunday, Aug. 11, 1996. A native of Danielsville, Mr. Sartain was a son of the late Henry Lafayette and Ora Mae Hill Sartain. He was retired from the Asheville V.A. Medical Center. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Military services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain James C. Lynn and the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Danielsville. Survivors include his wife, June Grant Sartain; four sisters, Thelma Seagrave, Kannapolis, N.C., Ima Jo Phillips, Danielsville, Lena Sartain, Atlanta, and Adeline Cohran, Mableton; and two brothers, Hugh Sartain, Mableton, and Henry Sartain, Decatur.
