Mann, 82, of 1 Sleepy Hollow died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1996. A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Mann was a daughter of the late John Ernest and Donna Frix Hall. She was the widow of Franklin Tyler Mann Sr. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Lord & Stephens Chapel West with the Rev. Keith Jones officiating. Burial will be in Center Methodist Church Cemetery. Survivors include seven sons, Bill Mann and Joe Mann, both of Athens, Thomas Mann of North Carolina, Charles Mann, Statham, George Mann, Watkinsville, Sammy Mann, Danielsville, and Frank T. Mann Jr., Lexington; three daughters, Dorothy Alewine, Athens, Jane Moore, Hull, and Carol Wheeler, Bogart; 30 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The family is at the home of Carol Wheeler, 1951 Lane Creek Road, Bogart. Nellie S. Johnson Athens Nellie M. Stroud Johnson, 78, of 118 Brooklyn Road died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 1996. A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of the late Andrew and Daisy Stroud. She was the widow of Leroy Johnson and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at noon Friday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Abraham Mosley officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Survivors include a daughter, Trenette Johnson McMillian, Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Lillie B. Hill, Athens, Mable L. Allen, Chicago, and Fannie M. Davis, Springfield, Mass.; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons. The family will receive friends from 7-8 tonight Mack & Payne Funeral Home. Roy L. Simmons Homer Roy L. Simmons, 70, of 142 Simmons St. died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1996. A native of Banks County, Mr. Simmons was a son of the late William and Naomi West Simmons. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in action. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Hill officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Hazel P. Pearl Griffeth Athens Pearl Griffeth, 97, of 960 Hawthorne Ave., formerly of Decatur, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1996. A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Griffeth was the widow of Homer I. Griffeth. She was a member of First Christian Church of Decatur. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Revs. Robert Boyte and Robert Clarke officiating. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Beggs was a daughter of the late John Vandiver and Alice Johnson McGee. She was the widow of William Charles Beggs, and was preceded in death by a son, William Spurgeon Beggs. She was a homemaker, and wrote the Redwine News section of the Hartwell Sun for more than 30 years. She was the oldest member of Redwine United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Redwine United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ray Black, Gary McWhorter and David Bowen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Survivors include three sons, James H. Beggs, Royston, Garland V. Beggs, Hartwell, and Dewey H. Beggs, Canon; a daughter, Vivian Roughieaux, Anderson, S.C.; two sisters, Lillian Isom and Gladys Herndon, both of Hartwell; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
