Neal Athens Richard G. Neal, 82, of 195 Colonial Drive, died Monday, Aug. 12, 1996. A native of Augusta, Mr. Neal had resided in Athens since 1954, having moved from Carrollton. He was a 1936 graduate of Georgia Technical Institute, having earned a degree in electrical engineering. He was founder and president of McIntyre and Neal Inc. of Athens. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1935 in the U.S. Army and served in both the Pacific and European Theaters during World War II. He was a member of Jennings Mill Country Club and Campus View Church of Christ. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at Campus View Church of Christ with Mr. Steve Watson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Myrtice Hawthorne Neal; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Elaine Neal, Reston, Va., Harold and Ruhanna Neal, Athens, and Alan and Beth Neal, Lithonia; a brother, Weldon T. Neal, Thomson; and six grandchildren, Hope Neal Burch, Columbia, S.C., Leigh S. Neal, Nashville, Tenn., Tiffany M. Neal and Sean P. Neal, both of Athens, and Kim Champion and Kevin Champion, both of Lithonia. Bernstein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Lucille Daniel Winder Lucille Daniel, 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1996. Miss Daniel was a daughter of the late James Clarence and Pearl Smith Daniel. She was a retired bookkeeper with Associated Aviation Underwriters. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. today in Campton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Survivors include two nieces, Judy W. Elliott, Atlanta, and Linda Egerton, Bethesda, Md.; and two nephews, Gary Egerton and John Egerton, both of Maryland. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Walter "W.J." Massey Jr. Jefferson Walter Jones "W.J." Massey Jr., 81, of Thyatira-Brockton Road, died Monday, Aug. 12, 1996. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Massey was a son of the late Walter J. and Ollie Coffee Massey and widower of Martha Janette Venable Massey. He was a retired farmer and was retired from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Bethany Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Bethany Methodist Church with the Revs. Hulon Hill and Mark Danzey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Survivors include four daughters, Sue Langford, Lynda Kesler, Sara Hensley and Barbara Cain, all of Jefferson; a son, Joe Massey, Jefferson; two sisters, Estelle Sosebee, Gainesville, and Della Mae Turk, Winder; two brothers, Ed Massey and Claudie Massey, both of Jefferson; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Harry R. King Colbert Harry R. King, 56, of Route 1, died Monday, Aug. 12, 1996. A native of Jackson County, Mr. King was a son of Ethel W. King, Commerce, and the late J.C. "Red" King. He was employed by Gold Kist Poultry Co. and was a member of Faith Pentecostal Church. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Faith Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Billy Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Jeanette Kirk King; two sons, David King and Jimmy King, both of Colbert; a brother, Jack King, Danielsville; and a sister, Martha K. Landers, Commerce. Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements. Lula M. Gilmer Winterville Lula M. Gilmer, 94, of 217 Robert Hardeman Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1996. A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Gilmer was a daughter of the late John R. and Mary McEwen Pulliam and widow of Austin P. Gilmer. She was a homemaker and a member of Winterville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert P. Gilmer. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Winterville City Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Maxey officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Hilda Poss, Winterville; two brothers, James Pulliam, Winterville, and Alex Pulliam, Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens.
