A native of Detroit, Mr. Durham was a son of the late Carson Gordon and Lottie Lunsford Durham and the widower of Gail Clayton Durham. He was a graduate of Georgia Military College and the School of Forestry at the University of Georgia. He was a retired forester with Georgia Kraft and a retired lieutenant colonel with the Alabama National Guard. He was a treasurer of the Union Point Lions Club and a member of the Union Point City Council and 1996-97 Leadership Greene County. He was a Mason. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Baptist Church with minister Lem Clark officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Carson and Nicole Durham, Bloomington, Ill.; a daughter, Marla L. Durham, Macon; a daughter and son-in-law, Litha Durham and Tracey L. Hamilton, Macon; his mother-in-law, Sophia L. Clayton, Union Point; a sister, Beverlyn Durham McCommons, Union Point; two grandchildren, Brant Hamilton and Brady Hamilton, both of Macon; three nephews, two great-nieces and a great-nephew, all of Union Point. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Callaway Funeral Home. James Fitzgerald Lavonia James Andrew Fitzgerald, 73, of 460 Lakeview Drive died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996. A native of Arkansas, Mr. Fitzgerald was a son of the late James F. and Leah Barnett Fitzgerald. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4346, Toccoa. He was of the Baptist faith. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, S.C. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fitzgerald; a daughter, Sherian Hodges, Americus; a son, James A. Fitzgerald II, Ruckersville, Va.; and a brother, Harold Fitzgerald, Okinawa, Japan. VFW members will serve as pallbearers. The family is at the residence. Preston German Sr. Athens Preston Louis German Sr., 75, of 415 Carrol Ave. died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996. A native of Covington, Mr. German was a son of the late Robert and Louise German and the widower of Alice Knight German. He lived in Athens most of his life and was a retired loan officer and Army veteran of World War II. He was a member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2872 and was of the Methodist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with a VFW chaplin officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Ronald Gipson Stone Mountain Ronald Howell "Ronnie" Gipson, 52, formerly of Toccoa, died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996. Mr. Gipson was a son of Helen G. Tucker of Toccoa and Horace O. Gibson of Logansville. He had worked as a courier in Atlanta and Lawrenceville and was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Toccoa. Arlie Studdard Union Point Arlie Davis Studdard, 92, of 205 Crawfordville Road died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Studdard was a daughter of the late Perry B. and Georgia Porter Davis and the widow of William Marvin Studdard Sr. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dixie Arline Arnoline. She was a retired inspector for Union Manufacturing Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with David Key officiating.
