Helen Comstock Huff, 85, formerly of Athens, died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996. A native of Bonham, Texas, Mrs. Huff was a graduate of Southern Methodist University and a ranked tennis player. She spent most of her adult life in Athens, where she was president of the Women's University Club. Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Murphy Falls Church Funeral Home Chapel, Falls Church, Va. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Gerald Huff; a son, Daniel Huff, Beaufort, S.C.; a daughter, Helen Williams, Falls Church; and two grandchildren. Amelia Adkins Crawford Amelia Blanchard Adkins, 83, of 129 Spring St. died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 1996. A native of DeKalb County, Mrs. Adkins was a daughter of the late Mell and Annie Farrow Blanchard. She was a retired schoolteacher with Oglethorpe County and a member of the Retired Schoolteachers Association of Oglethorpe County. She was also a member of Crawford Baptist Church, WMU, Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Crawford Women's Club. Corrie Brown Royston Corrie Ann Human Brown, 93, of Route 3, Harrison community, died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Jones Lewis and Dexter Ann Christian Human and the widow of Onnie Franklin Brown. She was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Brown. She was a retired lunchroom employee and was the oldest member of Mill Shoal Baptist Church. Janie Belle Herndon Atlanta Janie Belle McIlwain Herndon, 86, of 1833 Clifton Road N.E., formerly of Hartwell, died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996. A native of Hodges, S.C., Miss Herndon was a daughter of the late James M. and Louella Mabry McIlwain. She was a graduate of Lander College and taught in the Sardis and Iva school systems. She was a member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church and the Susanna Wesley Circle of United Methodist Women. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m.. Gear, 91, of 173 Gear Road died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996. A native of Stuart, Iowa. the Rev. Gear was a son of the late Arthur and Nellie Herr Gear. He was an Army chaplain, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He taught school in Walton County and at Bogart High School. He was a member of of Bogart Masonic Lodge and Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park with full military honors. A native of Gwinnett County, Mr. Kimbrel was retired from the Lawrenceville Gas Department and for many years was fire chief.
