A native of Clarke County, Miss Gordon was a daughter of Torial Denise Thrasher and Lamar Fontaine Gordon, both of Athens. She was a stepdaughter to Charlie Mitchell, Athens. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Hull, with the Rev. Kenneth Elder officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park. Survivors include, in addition to her parents; a brother, Frederick Thrasher, Athens, a half sister, Khaslijah Nuriddin, Athens; a half brother, Jamaris Barnett, Athens; and a great-grandmother, Addie Gordon, Athens. Elizabeth Morgan Fayetteville, N.C. Elizabeth M. Morgan, 58, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 1996. A native of Hall County, Miss Morgan was a daughter of the late William H. McWhorter and Effie McWhorter Stewart. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. at Buckhead City Cemetery, with the Rev. David Lemons and the Rev. Jon Appleton officiating. Survivors include, in addition to her mother; three daughters Leigh Rodgers, Fayetteville, N.C., Lilias Skilbred, Boulder, N.C., and Kathryn Marsh, Big Pine Key, Fla.; and two brothers, William Harrison McWhorter, Swainsboro, and Dr. Robert F. McWhorter, Milledgeville. Simmons Funeral Home, Madison is in charge of arrangements. Sarah Mae Postell Athens Sara Mae Postell, 73, of 1505 Morton Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996. A native of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Postell was the mother of the late Jack Postell. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Dennis Kesler officiating. Survivors, in addition to her husband, George P. Postell, Athens, include a daughter, Ethel Schuler, Athens; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bernstein Funeral Home. Thelma Wilbanks St. Augustine, Fla. Thelma Mauldin Wilbanks, 95, formerly of Toccoa, died Monday, Sept, 16, 1996, at Flagler Hospital East. A Stephens County native, Mrs. Wilbanks was a retired buyer for Belk-Hudson in Toccoa. She was a member of the Council on Aging and AARP. She was a member of The People's Full Gospel Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. at the chapel of the Craig Funeral Home, St. Augustine, with the Rev. David Webb and the Rev. Donovan Tinsley officiating. Burial will follow in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Jasoline Moss, Macon, and Mozelle Hosea, Toccoa; three sons, Calvin Mauldin, Bill Mauldin and Ross Mauldin, all of St. Augustine; a sister, Jesse Hartman, Atlanta; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Dewey Davis Jr. Madison Dewey Morgan Davis, Jr., 72, of 2430 Buckhead Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Davis was the son of the late D.M. Davis, Sr., and Bessie Cotton Davis. He was a retired truck driver for Furniture Manufacturing Co. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Baptist Church, with the Rev. Thomas Ghann officiating. Burial will be at Buckhead City Cemetery. Survivors include, in addition to his wife, Mildred C. Maggie Harris Winder Maggie L. Harris, 100, died on Saturday, Sept. 14, 1996. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at Austin Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Lewis Mayweather officiating. Hubert Wood Winder Hubert Wood, 82, died Monday, Sept. 16, 1996. A lifelong native of Barrow County, Mr. Wood was a son of the late J. D. and Sally Wood. He was the owner of Wood's Garage, Winder, and was a member of Winder Lodge #333, F.& A.M. He was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Carter-Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry W. Rarry and Dr. C.B. Skelton officiating. Burial will be at Barrow Memorial Gardens. "Dick" Thornton, 84, of 148 Tusten Street, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996, in the Spring Valley Health Care Center, Elberton. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Thornton was a son of the late William Henry and Missy Nippi Childs Thornton. He was a brother to the late Corinne Booth, Daisy Brown, Jeff Thornton, Laurie Thornton and Wilton Thornton. He was a retired foreman at Apex Granite Company and member of Elberton First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Fenlon and the Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
