Saxon Jr. Norman, Okla. John Harold Saxon Jr., 72, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 1996. A native of Moultrie, Mr. Saxon was a son of the late John Harold and Zollie McArthur Saxon. He was a graduate of Athens High School and attended the University of Georgia. He earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970 as a lieutenant colonel. During his military career, he also served as a test pilot, flight instructor and in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He saw combat in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was decorated more than 19 times during his 27 years in the military. He also taught math at Rose State College, Oklahoma City, Okla., and founded a publishing house and authored or co-authored math textbooks. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, Norman, Okla. Survivors include a sister, Zollie Johnson, Albany; four children, Dr. John Harold Saxon III, Muskogee, Okla., Dr. Selby Saxon Harrison, Dallas, and Dr. Bruce C. Saxon and Sara Perkins, Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and a nephew. Honorary pallbearers include Allen Oehlschlager, Bruce Selby, Frank Wang, William Ronk, Keeth Kipp and Dr. Steven Johnson. Kenneth Thompson Carnesville Kenneth Adams Thompson of Deer Meadows Estate Road died Thursday, Oct. 17, 1996. He was the infant son of Frances Paulette Kimbrell and Joel Kenneth Thompson. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today in the Kimbrell family cemetery, Commerce, with the Rev. Stan Westmoreland officiating. The body is at the residence of Grady and Dot Kimbrell, 530 Neal Road, Commerce. A native of Taliaferro County, Mrs. Parrish was a daughter of Adell Meadows and the late Ebb Meadows. A native of Copperhill, Tenn., Ms. Mayo was a daughter of Marjorie Newman Ballew and the late Glen Alton Ballew. She was an office manager with Atlanta Gas and Light Video. Montene Parten Royston Montene Parten, 63, of 4015 Athens Road died Thursday, Oct. 17, 1996. A native of Franklin County, Miss Parten was a daughter of the late B.E. and Teresia Phillips Parten. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Retha Phillips, Ellis Sorrells and Nina Brooks, and two brothers, Bill Parten and George Parten. She was a homemaker and a member of Pennington Chapel United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a pianist. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and of the Community Presbyterian Church, Atlantic Beach, Fla.
