Cullison Athens Dr. Arthur E. Cullison, 81, of 142 S. Stratford Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1996. A native of Lawrence County, Ill., Dr. Cullison was a son of the late Joseph Frederick and Minta Waggoner Cullison. He was married to the late Corenne Pence Cullison. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Cullison. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as a member of the Official Board, chairman of the Commission of Education, and superintendent of Sunday school. He was active in civic events as a member of the Athens Kiwanis Club. He served his country as a captain in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He received a B.S. and Ph.D. in Animal Science from the University of Illinois and was elected into Phi Kappa Phi and Gridiron. Dr. Cullison's entire professional career was dedicated to university teaching and research. He began his career as an assistant professor at Mississippi State University and continued as an associate professor at Auburn University. He was a professor of animal science at the University of Georgia for 30 years during which time he served as head of the Animal Science Department. He was a member of Alpha Zeta, Alpha Tau Alpha, Gamma Sigma Delta and Sigma XI. Dr. Cullison was the author of the book "Feeds and Feeding" which became a standard in the curriculum of animal science. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bernstein Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Garnett Wilder and Grady Wigley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. David Arthur and Barbara Cullison, Thomasville, and Major Joseph Cullison, Warner Robins; a brother, Harold E. Cullison, Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Mildred Greene, Indianapolis, Ind., and Bernice Wright, Sumner, Ill.; three grandchildren, Deborah Chubb, Overland Park, Kan., Catherine Cullison and David A. Cullison, both of Thomasville; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Genevieve Percival Winterville Genevieve Wilson Percival, 91, of 124 Avery St., died Monday, Aug. 19, 1996. A native of Unionville, Iowa, Mrs. Percival was a daughter of the late Ralph Edward and Clara Bishop Wilson and widow of Spencer McDuffie Percival. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Patat, Athens, and Nancy Raby, Ashford, Wash.; two sisters, Margaret Stotler, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Eleanor Lippert, Ottumwa, Iowa; a brother, Russell Wilson, Centerville, Iowa; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family is at the residence of Peggy Patat, 107 Clyde Road, Athens. Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, is in charge of arrangements. Nell Curran Atlanta Nell Gertrude O'Sheal Curran, 94, formerly of Toccoa, died Monday, Aug. 19, 1996. A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Curran was a daughter of the late Ola O'Sheal. She was a member of Sunshine United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunshine United Methodist Church, Toccoa, with Drs. Perry Bailey and Joe Peabody officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include several cousins. Pallbearers will be Jack Taylor, Brantley Morgan, Chester Meeks, Charlie Elrod, Sam Elrod and Ed Looney. The family is at the residence of Charlie Elrod, Highway 106, Toccoa, and will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. today at Whitlock Mortuary, Toccoa. Gene W. Crawford Decatur Gene W. Crawford, 82, died Monday, Aug. 19, 1996. A native of Decatur, Mr. Crawford attended North Georgia College. He was a World War II veteran having served in the South Pacific. He was retired from Southern Railway. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Liberty Hill Baptist Church cemetery, Eastanollee. Survivors include his wife, Sallie G. Rutledge Winder Bertha Bertlean Rutledge, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1996. A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Rutledge was married to the late Hugh Rutledge. She was a member of First Assembly of God. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Warren Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a son, James K. Rutledge, Decatur; a sister, Hazel Sells, Decatur; a sister-in-law, Annie Bell Austin, Winder; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Cliff Burch Royston The Rev. Cliff Burch, 78, of 285 Baker St., died Monday, Aug. 19, 1996. The Rev. Burch was a son of the late Willie Floyd and Ida Burch. He was pastor of Broad River Baptist Church and Rock Branch Baptist Church. He was the moderator for the Union Missionary Baptist Association. He was on the Board of Directors of the Franklin County Family Children Service. He served on the Board of Commissioners for the Royston Housing Authority. He retired from Cobb Memorial Hospital in 1985 and was owner of Burch's Auto Clean. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Royston Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Bobby Berryman, E.J. Hardy and Bascoe Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Broad River Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Zadie Burch; two daughters, Carolyn Brooks, Athens, and Sheila Merritt, Winterville; three sons, Joe Burch and Floyd Burch, both of Royston, and Jim Burch, Decatur; three sisters, Dessie Phillips, Viola Blackshear and Sarah Burch, all of Orlando, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
