Jones Atlanta Dorothy Hodgson Jones, 97, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1996. A native of Athens, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late Edward R. Hodgson and the late Mary Virginia Strahan and the widow of Bolling H. Jones Jr. She was a 1918 graduate and valedictorian of Lucy Cobb Institute for Girls and was active in the Junior League of Atlanta, Egleston Children's Hospital, Primrose Garden Club, Capital City Club, 19th Century History Club, Tallulah Falls School, American Red Cross and Piedmont Driving Club. She was a nurse's aide at Emory University Hospital during World War II and a member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, where she served as superintendent of the Primary and Cradle Roll Departments and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. In 1966, she was recognized along with members of the Hodgson family for their many years of association with the University of Georgia. She was the cousin of Hugh Hodgson, a UGA music professor after whom the new performing arts hall was named. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Westview Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Bolling Jones III, Thomasville, and Saunders Jones II, Birmingham, Ala.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Bessie Johns Athens Bessie M. Johns, 71, of 2015 S. Milledge Ave. died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1996. A native of Jones County, Mrs. Johns was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Prince Avenue Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Ricketts and Joe Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Harrell L. Johnson Tahlequah, Okla. Harrell L. Johnson, 60, of Lakewood North died Friday, Nov. 15, 1996. A native of Greene County, Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Robert E. and Ethel Harris Johnson. He was a truck driver, a Mason and a member of Green Forest Baptist Church, Decatur. Edwards Greensboro Nettie Louise Edwards, 87, of 1171 Old Bethany Road died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1996. A native of Gordon County, Mrs. Edwards was a daughter of the late Martin F. Edwards and the late Ivey Pickard and the widow of Summie C. Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of Centennial Christian Church, White Plains. King Hartwell Edna Williams King, 89, formerly of 151 Jackson St., died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1996. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. King was a daughter of the late Arl and Nancy Meredith Williams and the widow of Otto A. King. She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce King, four brothers, Charles Williams, Henry Williams, Harold Williams and Hugh Williams, a grandson and a great-granddaughter. She was a retired cloth inspector with Hartwell Mills and was a member of Hartwell First Baptist and Alathean Sunday School Class. A native of Cook County, Ill., Mrs. Smith was a daughter of David Schmitt of Chicago and Rose Miller of Conyers. She was a stepdaughter of Carol Schmitt of Chicago and Fred Miller of Conyers. He was preceded in death by a brother, Swayne Pritchett. He was the owner and operator of Pritchett's Body Shop and was a member of Good News Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
