Spears Hartwell John Frank Spears, 82, of 20 Springdale Drive, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 1996. A native of Hart County, Mr. Spears was a son of the late Carl G. and Mary Alewine Spears. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane Spears; a brother, H.C. Spears; and a sister, Ida Henderson. He was retired from the Hartwell Gas and Water Department as superintendent and from Starr Mills as maintenance supervisor. He was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. at the Strickland Funeral Home chapel, Hartwell, with the Revs. Melvin Timms, Sam Teel and Joe Black officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Sara Nell Vickery Spears; a son, Buddy Spears, Hartwell; five daughters, Barbara Thornton, Linda Gray, Brenda Owens, Susan Stowers and Janet White, all of Hartwell; 10 grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. Dillard, 68, of Route 1, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 1996. A native of Madison County, Mr. Dillard was a son of the late Tilden Lee and Ruth Stone Dillard. He served in Korea and in the Army Reserve. He was a retired manager of Quality Market. He was a member of Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ray S. Jenkins and Bryan Allen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Bryan, 80, of 615 Rhodes St., died Sunday, Oct. 20, 1996. A native of Greene County, Mrs. Bryan was a daughter of the late Homer and Nannie Durham Mauldin and the widow of Leon Bryan. She was retired from the knitting department of Chipman Union Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. Tomlin Toccoa Charles Edward Tomlin, 79, of 305 Cherokee Drive, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 1996. A native of Demorest, Mr. Tomlin was a son of the late Andrew Jarrett and Mary Lona Nix Tomlin. He was employed by LeTourneau Westinghouse Co. as a purchasing agent and with Singer Manufacturing Co. as personnel director. He served as Toccoa city manager and as Stephens County administrator. He was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Inactive Deacons and was a member of Mark Sunday school class. He was a Mason and a Shriner. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church with Dr. Butch V. Franklin and the Rev. Dwayne Benfield officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Christine Kelley Tomlin; two daughters, Dianne Lawrence and Judy Means, both of Toccoa; a brother, Herschel Tomlin, Clayton; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Jones Toccoa Dolly Ann Jones, 83, of 450 Eastatohe Circle, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 1996. A native of Warrior, Ala., Miss Jones was a daughter of the late William Lee and Dolly Ann Reeves Jones. She was a laboratory and x-ray technician at Ponce de Leon Clinic, Atlanta, and a graduate of Piedmont College. She was of the Methodist faith.
