Alford Athens Dorothy Dalton Alford, 70, of 220 Oakland Ave., died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1996. A native of Hall County, Mrs. Alford was a daughter of the late D.F. and Inez Pruitt Dalton. She was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery for a number of years. She retired from the George Washington Insurance Co. where she worked as a secretary and was associated with Howard Johnson's. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Bridges Funeral Home chapel. The Revs. Bill Ricketts and Miller Huckabee will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include a son and daughter; a sister and brother-in-law, Johnnie D. and Nathan O. McWaters, Athens, with whom she lived for more than 40 years; a brother, R.L. Dalton, Athens; seven grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Pallbearers will be Bernard Reynolds, David Cox, Titus Brown, Zachary Stribling, Leonard Cobb, Archie Patterson, Harold Darden and Tyler Dittman. Thomas Carter Lavonia Thomas "Dooney" Carter, 71, of 1919 Providence Church Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1996. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Carter was a son of the late Tommy and Mamie Floyd Carter. He was a retired farmer and was retired from Monroe Auto Equipment Co. He was a member of the Lavonia Church of God. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Carter Whitworth. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Weldon Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Randall Porter and Willard Fitzpatrick and Steven Hamby officiating. Burial will be in Lavonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. Millard E. Gaddis Jr. Braselton The Rev. Millard E. Gaddis Jr., 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1996. A native of Jackson County, the Rev. Gaddis preached from 1942 to 1980 when he retired. He was at Braselton for 14 years and at Winder, Buford and Cumming. He was a member of the Braselton Church of God and Prophecy. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Sam Allen and James Turpin officiating. Joe C. Harrison Toccoa Joe Cefus Harrison died Monday, Aug. 19, 1996. Mr. Harrison was a son of Ada Webb Harrison, and the late Pless Harrison. He was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church.
